Kirsten Allen-Brown

Kirsten Allen Reader has always had children at the center of her life’s work.  Having received her Undergraduate Degree in Literature from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and then her Master’s in English Literature from SUNY Brockport, she went on to work in education. For 26 years, she has worked at The Harley School.  She spent 19 of those years teaching English in the Middle School, then was appointed Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid in 2018, and in 2025 she decided to go back to the classroom where her heart is.

Kirsten has primarily taught middle school English, has trained in mindfulness work for educators at the Omega Institute, and in 2024, she received her yoga teaching certification.  Kirsten has served on the Visioning Board of Spiritus Christi Church, where she has also been a supporter of the Spiritus Prison Outreach and is a member of the Gospel Choir. She and her fiancé, Stephen Brown, live in Pittsford with their six children (Liam, Blair, Zoe, Makenna, Reid, and Patrick) ages 17 - 29.  She is an avid fan of exercising, reading, yoga, and she loves an inspiring podcast.  Her connection to their children, as well as the Rochester community, brings her great joy.
